Cesar Pita
Born in Los Angeles and raised in the South, Cesar Pita creates wheel-thrown and sculptural ceramic works rooted in cultural exploration, family history, and community advocacy. Discovering a deep connection between clay and his family’s story led him toward a more purposeful, material-focused practice. His work includes large-scale vessels and sculptural installations that blend traditional techniques with contemporary storytelling. Through his ceramics, he elevates the experiences of immigrant and working class communities, confronting cultural erasure while offering a platform to those whose voices are continually silenced. His practice sparks dialogue, honors shared histories, and celebrates the heritage that shapes his identity.
In 2024, he presented his first solo exhibition at Elephant Gallery, exploring resilience and familial connections to clay and. He recently completed an artist residency at Arcade Arts in Nashville, an experience that proved transformative and broadened the scope of his work. During this time, he was featured in a PBS segment highlighting the impact of Arcade Arts and the voices of local artists.
He continues to expand his practice with focus and determination. Whether developing new forms or deepening his relationship to tradition, he uses clay to honor shared histories and amplify cultural memory.
