Job Description: EXAMPLES OF WORK
o Vacuum all floors, carpets and rugs as needed in public areas and office spaces, and spot clean all carpets as necessary.
o Sweep or vacuum and damp mop all VCT tile floors as needed. Wet mop all ceramic tile floors as needed.
o Check all restrooms in the library to refill tissue and paper towels and spot clean fixtures, floors, counters, and mirrors as needed.
o Sweep, mop, dust, vacuum and empty trash cans and shredding trash in all workrooms and offices. Refill paper towels and tissues as needed.
o Vacuum, dust, clean counters and administration meeting room table, and empty trash cans and shredding trash in administration offices. Refill paper towels and tissues as needed.
o Dust and sweep foyer as needed.
o Clean kitchen on first floor. All countertops, sink, and appliances shall be wiped clean and disinfected. Cabinet fronts shall be spot cleaned. Refill towel and soap dispensers as necessary.
o Clean microwaves, tables, sink, and stove in staff lounge. Make sure dishes are in dishwasher.
o Clean restrooms in basement and mop as needed in basement hallways and closets.
o In elevator, wipe down walls and doors as necessary to remove fingerprints and other marks, sweep (or vacuum) floors and damp mop.
o All interior and exterior glass in doors and windows in lobby shall be cleaned as needed up to five (5) feet above floor.
o Report any maintenance concerns.
o Other duties as assigned.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Applicant should possess excellent communication skills; ability and willingness to give attention to details and to ask questions when unsure; knowledge of business English, spelling and math; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions is desirable but not required. Must be able to work with minimal instruction and supervision and to establish and maintain effective relationships with associates and with the public. Applicant must also be able to handle irate patrons in a diplomatic manner. Ability to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time; ability to transport heavy materials.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Applicant should possess a basic knowledge of chemicals and cleaning supplies.
HOURS AND SALARY
Position available to work 19 hours per week at $15.40 per hour, Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. is preferred. Position may include working occasional nights and weekends as needed depending on program schedules. Employee may be required to adapt to future schedule changes depending on library needs. No benefits. Applicant must be able to provide proof of employment authorization.
